Heat
Spring 2018

Gleaming brass mesh was the starting point for this pendant lamp, which the designer artistically transformed into an illuminating cloud of fire. Once the light is turned off, the fire disappears, giving the shade a translucent appearance. Heat was born out of the designer’s experiments with clashing materials and the inspiration to create a large pendant light characterised by contrasts. The lamp is fiery one minute, then tranquil the next, creating eye-catching features in either mode.  Whatever mode you choose, Heat is a dynamic lamp that fills the interior with creativity and imagination.

Heat was created with a social agenda in mind. With a goal to stimulate creativity among marginalised members of society, the designer teamed up with a local development agency to train asylum seekers and unemployed migrants to manufacture Heat’s shade. They craft the lamps by hand, making each product as unique as the individual producing it.
